Amalia Tucker knows a lot about time management.
She is a wife, mother, business owner and fitness fanatic.
"I have to run every morning to keep myself sane," Tucker said recently. "Since I don't have to be at work very early, I have time in the morning with my 16-year-old daughter, Sydney, before she leaves for (Cutherbertson High School in Union County), too."
Tucker also keeps fit by playing tennis and working out.
A graduate of the Art Institute of Atlanta, with a degree in fashion merchandising, Tucker is the owner of Divine Consign, a shop in Charlotte with two locations: one in The Fountains Shopping Center on Ardrey Kell Road and the other in Quail Corners Shopping Center on Park Road.
"Ever since I opened my second location in Quail Corners (one and a half years ago), my workload doubled. I'm lucky that I have a great staff working for me," Tucker said.
Tucker, 45, is responsible for reviewing every item brought into her store. She decides whether the item is the right fit for Divine Consign.
"We carry popular and designer fashions and home furnishings. Our customers enjoy shopping for lovely things at a reduced price. In addition to consigned items, we also have high-end vendors that bring us new apparel.
"Some of our customers prefer to only buy something new - with the tags still on," Tucker said.
The new hit reality-television show, "The Ruckers: Southern Royals" recently did some filming at Divine Consign.
One of the stars of the show, Ione Rucker Jamison, is a consignor of Divine Consign. She is the former wife of the NBA's L.A. Clippers basketball star Antwan Jamison and the mother of three.
"Ione's things don't last long; everything gets purchased pretty quickly," Tucker said. "It was fun to be part of the filming and I can't wait to watch that episode."
Tucker was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Greek parents. The family also lived in Phoenix, Ariz., before finally settling in Wilmington.
"My parents took me to Greece to be with relatives every summer until I was about 13," said Tucker.
Tucker - who is fluent in Greek - and her mother still speak Greek when they're together.
She met her husband, Duane Tucker, in Wilmington, and they were married in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral on East Boulevard 21 years ago.
"Duane is the national account manager for Wolverine Worldwide and travels a good bit," Tucker said.
"We strive to make family time a priority."
The Tucker family lives in Wesley Chapel.
